About Us

John Hirrell

John Hirrell is a fully qualified SMS Master Saddle Fitter he has many years’ experience in saddle fitting and has trained with some of the very best saddlers in the world who he now works closely on research projects & clinics.

John has a wide knowledge of the equine world as he set up Barlaston Riding centre a BHS approved riding school and competition yard he spent 10 years running the centre during this time he competed and helped to produce event horses up to 5 star level. Although John no longer competes, he can often be seen at competitions supporting his wife Melanie and their homebred horses.

John has also recently won the prestigious award of "Saddle fitter of the year" in the BETA Awards:

Melanie Hirrell

Melanie also has a vast equine background she has worked on numerous yards from show jumping to riding schools she has owned and competed horses all her life her passion is show jumping and she has competed all over the country, although recently has turned her hand to eventing. She has also worked for a saddlery manufacturer for over 14 years so has a good knowledge of the production & manufacturing processes used in saddle and bridle making.

Melanie also specialises in bridle fitting and is a Society of Master Saddlers fully qualified bridle fitter

Our Prices:

Saddle check & Template £60.00 (1 saddle 1 horse) plus mileage charge - 50p per mile
Additional saddles same horse - £30.00

Appointments available at our premises £60.00. No mileage charge.
Bridle Fits £50.00, plus mileage charge - 50p per mile
